Dholera International Airport Company Limited

The Government of India is developing Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) along the alignment of proposed Multi-modal High Axle Load Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) between Delhi and Mumbai, covering an overall length of 1,483 km comprising of 24 nodes to be developed as Investment Zone/ Industrial Parks/Special Economic Zone. In the first phase of development, eight manufacturing zone are planned to be developed. Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) is one of the first few nodes to be developed as world class industrial city of the corridor.

To serve the logistics and cargo need of DSIR, Government of Gujarat has planned to setup an international airport in the Navagam village of Taluka Dholera, District Ahmedabad. Besides handling the logistics requirement of DSIR, the proposed Greenfield Airport is aiming to handle the spill-over traffic of the existing Ahmedabad International Airport. The proposed airport will also handle the increasing traffic from the hinterland, upcoming and existing industrial clusters located near Sanand, Mandal Becharaji SIR and nearby cities that will propel an airport led economic growth in the entire region in line with other Aerotropolis worldwide. The airport project would make use of eco-friendly solutions and sustainable technologies to earn maximum carbon credit.

The Government of Gujarat (GoG) formed a project SPV Viz Dholera International Airport Company Ltd. (DIACL) in January 2012 vide I&M Department GR no. SPV/112010/521231/I, to facilitate the Greenfield Dholera Airport. Subsequent to the signing of Share Subscription Cum Share Holders Agreement (SSSHA) in March 2019, DIACL become a JV with equity participation of AAI-51%, GoG-33% and NICDIT-16%. The JV shall develop Dholera Airport as Second Airport of Ahmedabad having scope of two parallel world class runway. Besides handling passenger traffic, Dholera Airport has a good scope of becoming as a large volume cargo airport.
